Friend's in high places

A close friend of mine recently had a couple pictures featured on the Surfer magazine website from workshop he did with Art Brewer in Puerto Rico. Pretty freakin' rad. Check out the story slideshow here and his website here.

Poladroid and a very curious pigeon.

{img via augustandafter}

Poladroid may just be the coolest thing since sliced bread. I've been having way to much fun with this thing and spending far too much time converting old images I've been finding on my hard drive. I think I've just found the best method of procrastination, thanks to Sera.
Hope you lovelies are having a wonderful Monday!

Capturing sexy love

I am really digging Davina + Daniel's recent style, a duo who's photography I posted about earlier here. Their last few engagement sessions have my photography inspiration spinning madly in my head. I can't wait until I have my fingers on a pretty little piece of Canon magic, whenever that day comes.

The Love Quilt

The few of the amazing women of my family have been making Evan and I a quilt as a belated wedding present. I've dubbed it the love quilt and have been eagerly awaiting it's arrival. When I got home from work today I was so excited to see the package waiting for me on our porch, and I've discovered it's be.au.tiful. Made with colors from our wedding, mismatched prints, and heart shaped stitching all over. I absolutely treasure this quilt and the fact it was created out of a labor of love. I want to enjoy it now as a young couple newly hitched, years down the road with kids running all around, and as we spend evenings together all old and weathered from a life full of love, family, and adventure, cuddled up by the fire in our little log home. There's nothing I'd like more.

PS... a few hours left of Broken*Saucers first giveaway. It ends tonight, so go and enter now!

Please?

Who else is in love with this amazing wonderful flowey delightful goodness? Can't a girl wear dresses like this without a wedding being involved?

Gettin' Fit

Thanks so much for all the input regarding the last post, I guess the majority wins out at Bare Minerals and Benefit, so we'll see what works for me!

Saturday it felt like summer and it was crazy wonderful. It made me so excited to get outdoors and start enjoying the sunshine again. I had never been a big exerciser/gym person in the past, but once I discovered cycling it was a different world. My introduction to the sport was the 2007 Ride the Rockies tour through the Colorado mountains with my dad, uncle, and the Mavic/Soretta crew. After that June I was hooked. My bike has been sitting inside on it's trainer patiently waiting for me to get back on, and now that it's officially spring I'm pretty excited about putting in some good miles. My goal is to train up to a century ride this summer and get strong and fit again. It can be hard for me to get motivated, but I'd love to get my little hiney in the gym as well!

Do you have any goals to get back into shape after a long winter, or are you a better gym goer than I am?

What do you put on your face?

Ladies, I need your help! I've been using the makeup I bought for my wedding 6 months ago and I just can't do it anymore. I purchased the Mac Studio Sculpt and it's pretty thick and about 2 shades too dark for me after moving away from the land of the sun. I have fairly good skin, it can be combination to the oily side sometimes but I've found that the Mac is too heavy to use daily. I've used Colorescience in the past, but since I have this lovely community of women here, I wanted to ask what you put on your face!

Do you have a favorite makeup brand? A foundation you love? Have you tried any mineral makeup and does it last through the day? Please help this girl navigate the world of makeup so I don't end up looking like a mess!

Map Paper Airplanes

They're having a DIY contest over at Ruffled and I LOVE this plane map mobile. How rad. I love anything with maps, but I need to figure out new things to do with them other than hang them on walls with tacks. Any ideas? This may be the best one I've seen so far.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Sponsored Post: The Last Detail {UK}

I was clueless of all the details when I started planning our Flagstaff wedding. Decorations? I didn't know where to start. DIY ideas? I was overwhelmed by them. When I was contacted by the folks over at The Last Detail, a supplier of table & party decorations and wedding favours, I was excited to see a site that was organized, inspiring, and not too overwhelming! One of my favorites? The sky lanterns hands down, found here. They're fully biodegradable to boot.

Also, if you wait too long and run out of time to bunt a whole banner of your name, you can put in a custom order and get this pretty little thing instead. I'd prefer to get one for my pet goat. If I had one {Isn't Henry is the perfect name for a goat?!}.

Another thing that caught my attention is that you can shop by occasion, gift, theme, style, or color. Yes, color! Thank god for finally finding a company that's smart and knows what a girl needs. There are categories for wedding party gifts and a whole section just for ideas and inspiration. Very nice.

The Last Details ships to any EU Country, so scurry on over and see what's in store!

Polaroid Scarves

I think this polaroid scarf is awesome. Now only if there were print to order ones, that would be cool. Or it could get very weird.

Missed Connections

I was at a park with my dog, and he was at the park with a friend's dog he was watching. We talked about animals, city life, and missing the ocean. There was a small spark, something there that had the potential to be possibly great, but we left without saying goodbye. The next day it was staring at me from the computer screen, looking for Cori and Tabor, the girl and her dog he regretted not asking a number from. He wanted to take me to the ocean.

I waited too long to decide that the post expired and was lost. I didn't reply... because I couldn't. Even though E and I were still apart, I had already tried to move on and it hadn't worked. I needed a break. A month later everything was different, and I suppose how it was always meant to be. E and I have been together ever since.

I still look at the Missed Connections every now and then, they're so sad and hopeful (or sometimes just amusing and vulgar). Sophie get's it, and illustrates them in an effort to record these fleeting moments of two people connecting. "Every day hundreds of strangers reach out to other strangers on the strength of a glance, a smile or a blue hat. Their messages have the lifespan of a butterfly. I'm trying to pin a few of them down."

How did you get those bruises? I wouldn't let anything happen to you. You were reading some book, and taking notes. I read a book once.

When I put your coat collar up to protect you from the cold...
on the corner of E Houston and Bowery...
and I looked in your eyes...
I was very tempted to kiss you...
but I don't steal women from other men...

still...
I was tempted...

Goddamn Electric Bill

Have you seen this video? If you haven't you should, because it's wonderful. The Goddamn Electric Bill has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. Perfect soundtrack for driving back and forth the West coast in a fickle old Jetta. Their song, Morning Commute is doubly amazing, followed by the all-time favorite, Lost in the Zoo. Go treat your ears.

Beauty in the Basics

Yeah, I know we just talked about this, but I couldn't stop myself. You put the three elements together of fog, the ocean, and small community, and my heart is aching. Literally, aching for the home this reminds me of. (And damn they have good horse pictures, that animal is a piece of art. Their horse pictures are so much better than ours, we were busy looking weird with our mouths half open talking to the horse.... but what can you do? I had to talk to the horse.)

Here's the kicker: super simple wedding, small number of guests, and family did the (amazing) photography. See? You don't need big if that's not your style. I have a feeling I know quite a few girls who will love this wedding.

The chair belonged to the groom's late mother and they included it in the ceremony in honor of her memory. It takes my breath away.

Now go look at more: Pt I and Part II.
